We have been speaking about avoiding swine flu.
Other eating habits that affect immunity are excessive consumption of dairy products, excessive alcohol intake and ingesting fats such as red meat.
In addition, excessive sugar consumption can result in a 50 percent drop in immunity for 1-to-5 hours after ingestion. The above burdens the body’s detoxification system limiting proper immune response. For heavens sake, if you are going to take public transportation skip the cheesecake after dinner!
Russian Scientists have proven nothing lives in the presence of garlic juice… so eat lots of garlic if it doesn’t bother you.
When it comes to cold and flu, essential oils such as oregano, cinnamon, frankincense, lemon, eucalyptus and peppermint are prized by healers and naturopaths. In fact, plant essences derived from leaves, herbs and seeds were the very first medicines our ancestors used. Today, most look to pharmaceutical drugs instead of the tried-and-true natural remedies that work more slowly, but usually more effectively than drugs and antibiotics – and usually with no ugly side effects. We can say the same for flu vaccines…they can be dangerous, too.
However, what you focus on expands so think “good health” and take some sensible precautions, get a good night’s sleep, turn off the TV and know everything’s going to be alright. We can’t let fear be a self-fulfilling prophecy. RIGHT?
Here’s to your health!

My daughter’s best friend had swine flu and now it’s in my niece’s school. I guess it is time to report some tips sent to me by a natural health practitioner.
I want to stress the value of fresh air, sunshine, staying on a healthy balanced diet by adding lots of healthy organic vegetables, rest and relaxation, meditation, cleansing to detoxify the body and add some supplements for staying well.
Remember, psychological stress lowers your immunity and so does as little as ONE poor night’s sleep! Stay calm….meditate or do relaxation exercises. Use calming essential oils such as lavender and lemon grass…they are very helpful.
In order to stay healthy, an appropriate intake of vitamins is essential to ensure the manufacture of sufficient antibodies. Those vitamins include specifically: vitamin E, vitamin C and vitamin A.
Lots of vitamin C is important and gradually increasing consumption of it is helpful in fighting an infection. Also, it helps prevent the common cold and will decrease the duration of it.
Echinacea, which should be from the root of purpura or augustifolia, has a stimulating effect on the immune system including anti-bacterial and anti-viral-like properties. It should be taken along with golden rod and is usually available that way. Alpha lipoic acid also adds a boost to the immune system.
Minerals such as selenium and zinc are essential, as well. Also, Miracle Mineral Supplement (MMS)… please Google it… and see the benefits. It alkalizes the body and works to kills pathogens. Using lemon is great too.
You can also look at Biomgscience’s Wellness Kit. It can be used for everything and the price cannot be beat.
You can use the above to strengthen the immune system, diminish pain from most neurological disorders….to give you energy, to calm you down…to help you sleep…so much and so reasonably priced.
There’s a book which is also helpful as an adjunct in combating illness.
Please visit Robert Young’s website and read about his phour salts and the PH Miracle Living.
We will be continuing on tips for avoiding flu tomorrow!
Here’s to your health!

Most of us think that cancer may be inherited, tied to the polluted environment or our diets, etc. and getting it cannot be avoided. However, there’s GOOD NEWS regarding the above! That’s not necessarily the way it is, at least, not anymore.
Engaging a healthier life style can prevent half of all cancer deaths states the American Cancer Society!
For the next couple of days, we are going to go over some simple life strategies that will help us avoid cancer, detect it early and, perhaps, avoid it completely:
• First, reduce your cancer risk by changing your diet!
• While many of the specifics are not yet known for sure, we know this for certain…research is demonstrating that a plant-based, raw green diet is generally associated with reduced risks for many cancers (and other illnesses), especially for colon cancer.
• Do not smoke! Don’t use any tobacco product! We all know it…there is absolutely a link between the use of tobacco and an increased risk for getting many types of cancers.
• Get screened for cancer regularly: Many medical tests can find cancer at a very early stage. In fact, sometimes it can be found even before a growth has turned cancerous. Early detection can greatly increase your chance for a cure and reduce your risk of dying from the disease.

A number of studies have revealed that eating foods high in fiber can decrease a person’s risk of developing cancer.
If you think about it, it actually makes sense because fiber helps to move potential cancer causing substances (also called carcinogens) out of our body.
Obviously, the less we are exposed to cancer causing substances, the less our chances are of developing the disease.
This is especially true with cancer of the colon. Some foods high in fiber include: wheat bran, kidney, garbanzo, black and navy beans, whole wheat, whole grains, legumes, whole grain bread, prunes, lentils, lima beans, avocados, broccoli, millet, spinach, quinoa, Swiss chard, green peas and dark green leafy vegetables.
Be careful of wheat products, though, and those with gluten since a very high percentage of the population is allergic to them and doesn’t even know it.

You may not realize it, but spinach is one of the cancer fighting foods you should eat regularly to help prevent this disease.
In the past, people might have disliked spinach so much that a cartoon character was actually created to boost its appeal to children.
You may recall the popular cartoon, Popeye the Sailor Man. In each episode, he would get beat up trying to defend Olive Oil. Popeye would eat a can of spinach and as soon as it was digested, he would grow muscles and be unstoppable against his enemies.
In truth, spinach really is a great food. Some of its powerful ingredients include: vitamins C and E, beta-carotene, B vitamins, calcium, iron and many more natural minerals and nutrients.
Spinach has been shown to help protect the eyes from age-related degeneration. It, as well as other green vegetables, is high in potassium and low in sodium. Along with the mixture of plant-derived omega-3 fatty acids, fiber and other minerals, spinach is great for lowering your blood pressure.

A number of studies have shown there to be a direct correlation between cancer and diet.
And eating a variety of vegetables and some fruits can help reduce your risk of developing cancer.
When we eat fruits and vegetables, our craving for fatty foods is reduced. Fatty foods, in general, increase your risk of developing cancer and the less we eat of them the better.
In addition, plants contain a substance known as phytochemicals and this substance helps to prevent cancer from developing.
Whenever possible, you should stick to eating fresh foods and vegetables. When they are not available, the next best thing is frozen. Canned fruits and vegetables are not a good choice because much of the nutritional value is depleted in the canning process.
